Artifical muscles and bio-inspired robotics
Dr Andrew Conn received his PhD degree from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bristol in 2008. His PhD thesis was on the development of novel flapping technologies for insect-inspired micro air vehicles. During 2008 he undertook a post-doctoral research position on compliant-legged locomotion in the same department before starting his current post the same year as a Research Assistant at the Department of Engineering Mathematics, University of Bristol. At BRL he works on the Soft Robotics project under the supervision of Dr Jonathan Rossiter. His research interests include electro-active polymer actuators, bio-inspired design, robotics and novel mechanisms.
